    Mothers

    Wednesday, September 19, 2007, 06:51 PM [General]

I need to break the news to my new bestfriend that I can not sympathize with her about her mother. I can not listen to her stories of how she can't stand her mother; that for all intent and purpose she doesn't have one.  Her mother makes her crazy and I guess mine did to a point but I can't remember a time when I wished I didn't have one.  Now, after 16 months without my mom, I can't condone anyone who does not appreciate theirs. I wish so much I had my mom back.  I pray for her to come into my dreams so I can talk to her and listen to what she has to say.

If you have a mom still, appreciate her.  If she makes you crazy steer clear from the issues that do that but don't shut her out.  Embrace the time you have because there will be a time when you don't and believe me, it really sucks.

    Black Friday

    Saturday, January 13, 2007, 08:46 PM [General]

Hertz Corporation changed my life on January 5th, 2007.  We call it around our house, "black Friday."

It was a normal Friday morning except our dog was sick and we knew we would be putting her down sometime very soon.  Phil left earlier than most days because it was his turn to buy donuts for his co-workers.  He stopped to get them despite knowing that lay-offs were eminant. Surely it wouldn't be him?  Afterall, he just got a promotion and raise.

Phil carried the dozen and a half donuts to his cubical but was waylaid by the big boss, Doug.  Doug escorted him to his office where he lowered the boom.  The promotion and raise was just a fault sense of confidence, an almost ten year career had come to a close.

Phil was watched by his boss as he packed up his cubical into four cardboard boxes that say "Property of Hertz."  He was then escorted out to his car.  He remembered to bring home the donuts.

I am still convinced that moving to Oklahoma was not a bad move. It was meant to be. I know this is my heart of hearts.  When we were toying w/ the idea; after Phil was offered the job from Hertz, I had emailed some librarian friends if any of them had any imput about Oklahoma. I wanted to know about jobs, weather....basically anything.  One of the librarians forwarded the email to her son who just happened to live in OKC.  I did not know this.  He emailed me back and said, "If Phil ____ is your husband, I just met him as he interviewed w/ my boss."  Yes, of all sons of collegues who lived in OK, this one worked at the very company my husband was going to work for and of all workers at Hertz, this one was in the same department. This was the sign that said, "move to OK."

I have met some wonderful people here. I found a sweet loving little dog to adopt. I got a good job with some super co-workers. I know this was right.

    You just know..

    Saturday, November 18, 2006, 05:11 PM [General]

I had lunch w/ a friend who brought her friend with her.  Yeah, you know me and the three way thing.  Anyway, the woman was cordial and friendly but you could just tell she had no real use for me.  It was pretty obvious.  After the first hand shake, not one other time did our eyes meet.  She sat across from me and as we talked she looked everywhere but at me.  Looking past me was the best place for her.  It kind of freaks me out when people don't make a least a little eye contact.  I have to wonder if maybe I had a buger in my nose but I really thought for sure I got rid of them before entering the restaurant...before leaving my car.
As we left, my friend said we should do this again.  Her friend said she would have to see because her schedule is so tight.  I left it alone.
